The year of 2020 is hard for many people who live in the U.S. In the begins of the year, the corona virus outbreaks changed everyone’s daily life. Millions of people were infected and then unfortunately past in the pandemic. In May, The George Floyd protests begin in Minneapolis. Many citizens gathered on streets and motivated the Black Lives Matter movement. The angry and fury impacted President Trump’s supporting rates. In this story, I would use an infographic to review what happened in President Trump’s last year in his office.

As the infographic shown above, President Trump’s approval ratings were between 43% to 45% in the first three months of 2020. After WHO announced the first Disease Outbreak News about COVID-19 on January 5, 2020, CDC issued a travel notice for the city of Wuhan in Hubei province, China soon. In that time, no one could imagine the pandemic will cause a such huge lost in both people’s life and in economy in U.S. However, with the situations of pandemic get worse and worse, President Trump’s disapproval ratings reach high in a very short period. In the end of March 2020, President Trump’s approval rating was first time which below his disapproval ratings.

Unfortunately, the George Floyd’s death in May triggered Americans’ fury to Trump’s Administration. While the George Floyd protests begin in Minneapolis on May 24, Trump’s approval ratings dropped to 44%. Then, On August 8, the U.S. passed 5 million COVID-19 cases. From May to August, President Trump’s disapproval ratings were among 50% to 56%.

Many bad news happened in 2020 did impacted Trump’s approval ratings in his last year in the office. Though President Trump tried to change the adverse trend, he seems failed to do that during the campaign of 2020 U.S. Presidential Election. After the election, some Trump’s supporters denied accepting the result of the election and broke into the Congress building. This accident let Trump’s disapproval ratings reached to 58%.
